CIPHERA Terms of Service

Effective date: 30 October 2026 · Versiunea în limba română

These terms are an agreement between you and MSCS di Stefan E., Via Carso 31, 24052 Azzano San Paolo (BG), Italia ("we"), for the use of the CIPHERA messaging service. The CIPHERA app you download from the App Store is licensed to you under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement; if these terms and that license conflict about the app itself, the license prevails. How we handle personal data is described in the CIPHERA Privacy Policy.

1. Who may use CIPHERA

You must be at least 16 years old and able to enter into this agreement. You may not use CIPHERA if the law of your country forbids it.

2. Your account and your keys

You sign in with Apple or with a one-time code sent to your e-mail address. Your identity keys are created and kept on your devices. We cannot read your messages and we cannot recover your keys: if you lose all your devices and have not set up recovery, your identity and your message history cannot be restored. Keep your recovery code private and safe, protect your devices with a passcode, and remove devices you no longer use in Security Center.

3. Free of charge

CIPHERA is provided free of charge. Every account can use every feature — messages, conversations, contacts, groups, calls, files, Security Center, devices, recovery and account deletion — without paying anything. Nothing is sold in the CIPHERA apps or anywhere else, and we never ask for your payment details. If we ever decide to charge for CIPHERA, we will tell you in the app before it applies, and you can stop using the service and delete your account (section 8).

4. Acceptable use

CIPHERA has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Objectionable content is anything this section forbids; an abusive user is anyone who uses CIPHERA to do it. You may not use CIPHERA to:

Anyone can block and report an account that does any of this (section 5). Content and accounts that break these rules are removed.

5. Blocking, reporting and enforcement

You can block any account; a blocked account can no longer reach you. You can report an account, a conversation or a message from the app. Because content is end-to-end encrypted, we see only what the reporter chooses to include from their own copy of the conversation. We review reports, usually within 24 hours, reports about the safety of children first. Content and accounts that break these terms are removed: we remove the content from our service and close the account that sent it, which ends all of its sessions and stops it from signing in again. A message that was already delivered stays end-to-end encrypted on its recipients' devices, where each recipient can delete it and block the sender. Where the law requires it, we report to the competent authorities. You can contest a decision by writing to office@support-remote.org / stefan@support-remote.org.

6. Your content

What you send belongs to you or to whoever holds the rights to it. You give us only the permission needed to store and transmit your encrypted data so that it reaches your recipients. We cannot read it and we do not use it for any other purpose.

7. Security limits

End-to-end encryption protects your communications in transit and on our servers. It cannot protect what is on a device that is lost, unlocked or compromised, or what a recipient chooses to do with a message. Verify your contacts (safety number or QR code) to make sure you are talking to the right person; CIPHERA tells you when a contact's keys change.

8. Changes and availability

We keep improving CIPHERA and may change or remove features. We aim to keep the service available but cannot guarantee that it will always be available or free of errors. We will tell you in the app before changes to these terms take effect; if you do not agree, you can stop using the service and delete your account.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, in particular for intent, gross negligence, or death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your rights as a consumer. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses or for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control.

10. Ending the agreement

You can stop using CIPHERA and delete your account in the app at any time (Settings → Delete account). We close an account that breaks these terms (sections 4 and 5).

11. Law

These terms are governed by the law of Italy. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in its courts.
